Company picnics in Pila: by the Gwda and the lakes
Company picnics in Pila have one natural advantage no other town can fake: water and pine forests within walking distance of the workplaces. The Gwda flows around the city, and within a short drive lie four lakes and MOSiR resorts. It is a setting where a barbecue at Plotki or a cruise around the Wyspa replaces a stiff company roll-call with something closer to a day out by the water. When organising an outdoor event for Pila firms we start from what is local, a real meadow, beach or square with a stage, and only then add the programme.
The heart of the city's events is the Wyspa park, the Stanislaw Staszic Municipal Park spread across an island between the arms of the Gwda. It is one of the oldest parks in Greater Poland, and for an organiser the key point is that the southern part has a paved square with a permanent stage. Cultural life on the island has unfolded here for years, with concerts, fetes and picnics. A ready stage, support facilities, central transport links and a large modern playground right next to it mean a company fete in the middle of town needs nothing built from scratch. For families, the draw is the pitches, the skatepark, the roller track and the seasonal Gordalina water tram cruises around the island.
OTW Plotki: a full day on the water with the option to stay overnight
When the event is to be fully on the water, we head for OTW Plotki, the MOSiR resort on lake Plotki towards Zelgniewo. Its Forest Glade with barbecue pavilions is named directly as a place for team-building events, and around it waits a full set of facilities: a sandy beach with a supervised swimming area, catering, a covered shelter with a fire pit, a rope park, a water obstacle course and a hire point for kayaks and water bikes. Year-round cabins and a campsite let you stretch a family day into team building with an overnight stay.
An element that makes both children and adults laugh, a sunken dinosaur park on the lake bed, is found only here. This ready-made base means we simply add animation, catering and the script for the day, and the picnic falls into place by itself.
Piachy by Lake Piaszczyste: an intimate family event in the shade of the forest
The second proven waterside ground is the bathing spot on Lake Piaszczyste, known to locals as Piachy. Surrounded by mixed forest, it gives shade on a hot day, a seasonally supervised swimming area, designated barbecue and campfire spots, benches with tables, two volleyball courts, a playground and an outdoor gym. It is the ideal base for an intimate, family outdoor event with animation, where catering rests on the barbecue and the programme on games by the water.
For smaller groups this shaded ground is often more comfortable than a sprawling meadow, because everything is within easy reach. We add a programme drawn from local attractions: the region is a kayaking paradise, with the clean Rurzyca in its nature reserve buffer suited to family descents, while the Pilawa and Gwda offer stronger, more active team building. On a rainy day, the fallback is the Pila Aquapark.
Frequently asked
It depends on the scale and character of the event. For a large, urban fete with a ready stage, the most convenient is the Wyspa park in Park Staszica, where the stage, facilities and playground are on site in the centre. If you want a full day on the water with a beach, a rope park and the option of an overnight stay, we recommend OTW Plotki on lake Plotki. For an intimate family gathering in the shade of the forest, Piachy on Lake Piaszczyste works well.
The season on Pila's lakes runs from late spring to early autumn, when the supervised MOSiR swimming areas, the water sports hire points and the Gordalina water tram on the Gwda are all operating. Most family days take place between May and September. Whatever the date, we secure the site with coverings and tents, and as a plan B for bad weather we have the Pila Aquapark on hand.
We rely on what the local ground offers: the rope park and water obstacle course at Plotki, kayaks on the clean Rurzyca or the Gwda, playgrounds on the island and along the Gwda, and the seasonal water tram cruise around Park Staszica. The sunken dinosaur park on the bed of lake Plotki is often a hit. For older children and adults we add karting, paintball and quad bikes as an active team-building module.
